Florence & the Machine - 'Ceremonials' Album Review

20th January 2012

The follow up to Florence’s debut album (Lungs) did not disappoint her eager fans. The singer/songwriter came back with her renowned unique and majestic voice but this time with darker and more disturbing lyrics which include a number of topics such as drowning and souls moving from this world and into another.

The album fittingly was released on Halloween as the string instrumental mixed with the dark lyrics create a sinister atmosphere especially in the track “Seven Devils”. However this does not detract from the music that has been beautifully composed.

The singer’s powerful and enchanting voice fits perfectly with the music and despite the odd choice surrounding the subject material; the album is a perfect easy listen. If you can stand to listen to the emotional number one album all the way through, it will leave you entranced and blown away at the magnificence of the young artist’s voice.
